I did CTRL click to select each word then Edit/Select Selection to select them as a group Now what?

Many thanks. I could have avoided this problem by setting all the words in one bar at the same time. Then they would all be at the same distance from the stave.
Also, depending on what these words are (lyrics? chord symbols? something else?) it may be better to just change the Text Style for that element type (see right click menu). Also be aware there are faster ways of selecting large groups of items - for instance first select the range, then right click one element and use Select / All Similar Elements in Range Selection.

This thread offers me an opportunity to ask if it is possible to enter all the lyrics for all the bars in one line in one shot. If so then the problem is solved because we'll get them all at the same level.
I see only one difficulty where the melody goes several ledger lines below the stave. Then the text-setting method will have to scan the whole line to find the lowest point so that it can set the text below that. This implies also that you need to have the whole line available to look at before setting; so you can't put the text in as you go, bar by bar. But, as I suggested above, it may be quicker to do the whole job one line at a time.

See my reply above. Same technique works for selecting all lyrics one a single system and moving them together. A future release will automatically adjust lyrics to avoid notes below the staff.
