chords and scores
Hi
Every time I have to write a score for a band I find myself writing the chords out on each part (piano, bass, sax, etc). It is very time consuming, and seems a little clumsy. Have I not understood something, or never found the relevant 'command'? So, is it possible to write your chords - its for a big band - and have them automatically reproduced/copied into all the parts?
Thanks in advance - Joe

Have you already tried it with https://musescore.org/en/handbook/parts ?
Try https://musescore.org/en/handbook/selection-modes#all-similar-selection to copy and paste

Thanks, I use the score-parts all the time, but (unless I'm doing something wrong) it doesn't copy out chords from one part to another.
As for the 'select' idea, I hadn't seen that you could select all the chords, that saves a lot of time. Big thanks.
Chord symbols are attached to instruments, not to systems, hence they extract to their part only, this is a known restriction. See also #31261: Request a way to have concert key chord symbols on top of score in presence of Hide Empty Staves

No problem, with the cut and paste suggestion that makes things a little easier.
You wouldn't normally want chords on *all* parts anyhow - normally literally just piano, guitar, bass, and the current soloist. For a big band that's justfour staves out of seventeen). And it is actually quite important in big band scores for the chord to appear for all relevant staves, not just once. As a director, I need to know who has changes and who doesn't at any given point in the score.
So anyhow, yes, copy and paste is what you want.
