This may seem a little stupid, but...

Hello, I'm a newcomer to MuseScore. I have only just started using MuseScore but I'm having difficulty using the tie feature.

Thanks again,

TKoorn and nubyw00tz,

It is important to understand the difference between a tie and a slur . The handbook has instructions for each and describes the difference between the two.

TKoorn,

It sounds like you are looking for slur .

I want to tie the last eight note of the first bar to a whole note in the second bar and a half note in the third bar.
They are all the same pitch and should be played as one long note. I can tie two of them together, but not all three.
I'm not sure if it is a bug or I am doing something wrong. I can press the + and it goes on but there is no tie between the second and third note.

Mscore cannot tie notes of different voice or pitch. Both notes must have the same accidentals. After a tie is set, the second accidental is automatically removed.
The + is activated even if mscore cannot place a tie. This is a bug. Maybe a error message should popup if a tie is not possible giving the reason.

Since I am inputting a single voice and all 3 notes are the exact same pitch it must be a bug that the third note wont tie. I'll try again and see if there are other ways in which this happens.

It does work but because of the bug that keeps the + on it is very illogiical.
If I tie two notes and then press + again so that the plus sign goes out, it does tie the third note. Because I kept looking at the plus it wouldn't work. So the tying works it is only the visual feedback about what I am about to do that is messed up.
