MuseScore 4.3.1 is now available!

• May 29, 2024 - 11:08

Hi everyone,

We're pleased to announce that MuseScore Studio 4.3.1 is now available.

Release builds can be found at https://musescore.org/en/download or via Help > Check for update within the application.

This update fixes a critical usability issue affecting AZERTY keyboard users. The shift modifier key can now be used to trigger number keys, enabling note durations to be changed using the default shortcuts.

This release also improves CPU performance when using Muse Sounds, and resolves a number of playback bugs associated with repeats.

Additional fixes:

  • Playback now falls back to MS Basic if SoundFonts are missing.
  • Volume levels of MS Basic are now better balanced between note input and playback modes.
  • An issue preventing instrument names from being deleted from beginning of staves has been resolved.
  • Fixed a bug where synthesizers incorrectly defaulted to the piano sound.
  • Fixed a crash preventing certain scores with hidden clefs from opening.

See the full list of improvements in the 4.3.1 project on GitHub.

Is there any way to disable this? I’ve used this function in the past when I wanted to know what SoundFonts someone used without asking.

On the contrary, I need the sound to work immediately and so that I don’t have to guess why there is no sound at all.
If you need to know what sounds are used, open the mscz file using an archiver program (for example 7zip), there you will find the audiosettings.json file with all the necessary information.

Thanks @Lucas! We've had a few reports of this and we're investigating the cause now.

In the meantime, you can stop the spinning wheel by:

  1. Open Muse Hub > Settings.
  2. Turn off automatic updates for apps (keep it on for sounds).
  3. Quit and relaunch Muse Hub.
