How to silent the Musescore internal synthesizer

• Aug 8, 2020 - 07:52

Hi, gang!!!

I use Musescore 3.4.2 (snap version) into Ubuntu Studio 20.04.1 LTS (64 bits Linux).

I wonder if there is a way to silent the internal Musescore synthesizer to just get an external synthesizer sounds.

Let's say... I connect some of the pre-installed Ubuntu Studio synthesizers (let's say Foo YC20) with Musescore through Jack Audio Connections Service. Then, I play some score and both sounds are heared: from the internal Musescore synthesizer and from the external Foo.

If I decrease the Musescore synthesizer volume control, it affects both sounds.

So... How can I silent it? ???

Blessings and Greetings from Chile!!!

Hi, Marc!!!

This is not the only one thing is very rare inside Ubuntu Studio.

Ubuntu Studio needs some things we don't have directly from the system itself (all the JACK Audio processing things, as an example).

I can silent MuseScore with JACK (I just have to disconnect it). BUT... What if I need/want to use some MIDI channel from an external synthesizer and some MIDI channel from inside MuseScore, at the same time? ???

I'm not the only one is asking to some change about this from the Ubuntu Studio team, but...

I have a number of apps where you "disable control" from the app but not Msc. The typical cc are #7 and #10. Most of the time, i don't want Msc. channel sliders to control the app volume. I don't know whether Ubuntu studio allows you to do this. (To be clearer, I am talking about the channel volume when the Msc master volume is turned all the way down.
