Repeats are not played

• Aug 14, 2020 - 04:10

First let me say that I am not a sophisticated user..... I notice that repeats are not played in the newest version of Musescore. I've played many older scores and even ones I just recently entered with the previous version that do not play repeats correctly... ever.... I have tried many, the score just plays straight through the repeats, DS, codas etc. I have attached a piece that does not play the repeats, it is from the previous version.

I see from another post that chord symbols are played (it seems even if there are none). I guess that is why I hear a strange sounding notes that are not in the music on the down beats. How do I disable this, it is very annoying.

Thanks for any help.

You probably need to click the play repeats button on the top tool bar twice, once to turn it off, once to turn it on. This is a know version 3.5 bug. The other noise in unrelated to chord symbols and I don't hear it on my computer.

OK... Thanks.... that fixes it. I always thought that button just placed the score over and over, but that's actually the button next to it ;) I just figured out how to stop the chord playback. I hope I don't have to do this for every score. don'ty see anything in preferences to turn it off.

Thanks again.... some old timers on this forum are very rude to newbies. It made me leave for a while.

Sorry if anyone has been rude. I'm not sure how you turned off the noise because there are no chords in your score. To my knowledge, you have to have a chord to turn off chord playback. Unfortunately in the current version this is required for each score. In 3.5.1 it will be much easier to turn off chord playback for any or all scores.

After I figured out what was causing the annoying sound on the downbeat I realized I sent a bad example. It did not have any chords to play. I had a score with chords notated and was able to turn them off by clicking on the chord and un-selecting play chords in the inspector. Guess I'll have to do this for any score that has chords.
I hope they put a global preference item in preferences so I don't have to do this every time.

Thanks....
