Just select a bend and it will be interpreted as if you made a change

Open the score that contains the bend.
Select bend/release, bend/release/bend, pre-bend, pre-bend/release, custom.
No changes will be made.
An asterisk is added to the file name displayed on the tab.
A dialog box will open prompting you to save on close.

Same if you select a note and use up/down arrow
So by design
Use Undo to undo those changes

I didn't change it and undo it. I just selected it.

This does not happen when you select a bend type that specifies "bend".

Yes that seems a bug, feel free to report it in the issue tracker
It is a regression at least vs. 3.3.4
Edit: thanks for #309536: Just select a bend and it will be interpreted as if you made a change
And 3.4 had that issue already
