Addiional descant stave
I am a newcomer to musescore and am transcribing a 72 bar organ and SATB score. So far no problems, but at the last four bars require a separate staff for a descant. Is there a way of adding a staff just for the last few bars without having to have it throughout the whole score.

The direct answer is no.
But that isn't too much of a problem. You can add the staff (use Edit>instruments) and set it to be hidden when empty by right-clicking on it and ticking the appropriate box in the stave/part properties dialogue. It may seem obvious but don't set it to hide before you have entered the notes as the whole (empty) staff would be hidden and you would not be able to see where to add them.

The "appropriate box" means set the Dropdown next to "hide when empty" to "Always"
