Purpose of tags
Hello, everyone!
What’s the purpose of adding tags when uploading a score to musescore.com?
The page https://musescore.org/en/handbook/share-scores-online says that they “help identify scores” but what does that mean? It would be reasonable if the contents of tags were matched against the search query typed in the search bar, yet that’s not the case. Why do we need them then?

I just did a test of tags. I put the IMSLP # in a tag when I use it for a source and I used 251555 for Zaar Boris incidental music and split it into 5 scores (1 per act). I did a search for 251555 from a different account using All as the instrument and got exactly 5 results from the search. Each one was one that I had put the 251555 tag on. Is this the only factor used in searches? I'm sure it's not but the tag is not ignored either.

Thank you for the test. But the reason why you got the results is that you have “251555” in the score description. If I try to search for “tsar boris”, your scores are not found, although they have “tsar boris” tag.

Thanks for checking me. I didn't notice that. I guess putting in the tags is a waste of time. Perhaps at one time the tags were meaningful. This is really better asked in https://musescore.com/groups/improving-musescore-com

Thanks, I’ll ask it there tomorrow.
