Missing dll error when updating
I'm running Musescore2. When I tried the last update I got an missing dll error. So I left it, but for this update (3.6) I thought I'd try again and I get: The program can't start because api-ms-win-crt-heap-l1-1-0.dll is missing from your computer.
I so want to update but have no idea what to do. Please can someone help,

That file is part of your windows installation, so install the relevant windows update package first. You can find it on the Microsoft Support site linked in the first comment of #288949: api-ms-win-crt-heap-l1-1-0.dll missing

Hi
I tried the link you suggested, downloaded the update but it wouldn't install. It said "The update is not applicable to your computer". Any ideas?

There's equivalent ones for your OS
Actually the still open issue on this is #281750: File api-ms-win-crt-heap-I1-1-0.dll missing

Installed the file and got exactly the same message.
I think I'm doomed to stay on Musescore 2!!

Yes I always do all updates as they come out.
That's why I don't understand why I've not been able to update since Musescore2.

On Windows 7 that came with some service pack IIRC, on Windows 10 it doesn't seem needed at all.
Or it isn't just for me (and other developers), having all the development environment installed neded fo build MuseScore from source...
That DLL is part of the C Runtime, it should be part of vc_redist.x64.exe from https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-v…
