Print with chromebook..Help!

MS 3.5.2 linux on chromebook
I have got my printer(brother mono laser) working from chrome, at least I printed a page from handbook 3 on setting up my printer. When I try to print from score my only choice is PDF, print to file. I am obviously missing something. Brother is no help! Any thoughts as to how to proceed, or start over? The instructions in the handbook were fine when I printed the page there, but nothing was the same when I tried the score.

Thanks for responding. Afraid I do not have the slightest idea what you are suggesting! My poor memory in my post...it was a page on how to set up your printer in settings from the chromebook that I printed. With any of the instructions given I am not seeing those options when I try to print from MS. Thanks for the thought!

Jeetee I did your suggestion. As I mentioned I was only offered pdf when I tried to print. I did file, export, found the saved file. (I may not have been clear, but MS is running on linux in chrome) I was given an app to print pdf, pulled in the file made selections hit OK and.... Nothing. I still am missing something, probably in linux... which I am trying to figure out at the same time. So still at square -3. Oh well... thanks for the thought!

If you can't even print the PDF from ChromeOS, Linux has nothing to do with it - you need to figure out how to install the printer on your Chromebook, not even thinking about Linux. It's definitely possible but the specifics are in the process of changing, it was Google Cloud Print but this is being discontinued and I'm not really sure what the new system is. Something to do some web searches about I guess.

Once you have it installed in ChromeOS, you can print the PDF. And then you can begin worrying about trying to get it visible within Linux also. In theory it is possible by installing the "cups" system, but it's pretty techie, and again, you'll need to do some web searches to learn how to do it. It's likely to be a lot more involved than just getting it working with ChromeOS.

Marc Thanks for the thoughts. You may have missed where I said I can print from chrome! It comes down to anything dealing from MS or linux. That I do not know why. I am trying to get the printer working with linux. As you said it is techie and seemingly more complicated than it needs to be. I am in the process of getting help from the printer co. , but that is slow. But, to respond to your main thought, I can print things from chrome, but if it touches linux it just does not work, and that unfortunately is MS.

I saw where you said you had once successfully printed form Chrome, but then later you said you had a PDF that you now cannot print. So this tells me either you have forgotten how to access the print facility from Chrome, or it stopped working. But if you can indeed print from Chrome, great - just use that to print the PDF. The PDF isn't magically part of Linux, it's just an ordinary file on your Chromebook that Chrome can print just as surely as it can print any other file.

As I also mentioned, it is theoretically possible to install CUPS to get printing working in Linux also, but it's beyond my own area of expertise, which is why i suggest a general web search for more info on CUPS and using it on Chromebook in particular. I successfully installed it, that much is simple enough following instructions you can find online, but getting it to talk to my printer is thus far beyond me.

Marc. Unfortunately, the only program I have that will open and allow printing of a pdf is another linux associated program. So I am still locked out of choices. It will not print. I saw the cups option, also, when researching. I choose lpr, I think it is. I am waiting for email contact with printer co. to ask a question or two, then I hope I can get things working. The co. help page implys once app is loaded things should work. Your situation makes me wonder. Time will tell, I guess. Thanks for the info.

My previous effort did not give my printer as a choice! But, I just tried again and the printer was there!! I have not printed ,yet, so I can not say for sure. Will try soon. I have been focused on getting the printer working so I can make quick prints without the extra processes, pdf, that I have not tried to find other program options. Thanks for the reminder! I do though want the printer to work from MS, will make things more straight forward for me, something I definitely need!! Thanks again for the help.

Well, I'm glad you have something working anyhow. My world is paperless enough these days that needing to go through PDF the few times I do need to print isn't a big hardship. If I were needing to print parts as often as I did years ago, that might give me more incentive to get cups working.

What I recall is that the system itself works well enough, and I can see a new PDF printer it installs, and access that from MuseScore. But accessing my physical printer involves trying to communicate with it over WiFi and doing some sort of setup involving a special IP address, and it just never actually connected.
