Layout in the new format
Thank you for all that MuseScore does – it really is great!
However, having had the message come up to change the layout to the new format, I clicked “Yes” before I realised quite how it would appear.
I don’t like the way the staves are spread out over the page in the new layout and would like to revert to the original, but can’t work out how to do it.
Please could you help?

Thank you again.
This works for keeping the old format in scores already created and saved.
However, because I clicked "Yes" when I was making a new score, it doesn't give me the option to revert any more when I open up a blank score - it just goes to the new format.
Could you tell me if there a way of bringing the message up again for a fresh score?
Many thanks,
Theresa

Asl long as you didn't save it, you can undo.
Once you saved, you need to look for the backup score
New score will take the new format, period.
(You can load the old style though, C;\Program Files\MuseScore 3\styles\legacy-style-defaults-v3.mss)

Thank you - trouble is I did save it! I don't know what you mean by looking for the "backup score".
I'll try loading the old style using the link you sent - thank you again!

Oh dear - I'm out of my depth!
I'm not a great technical person, but thank you so much for trying.
I'll just have to go with the new one I think!

I'm not really understanding the question "if there a way of bringing the message up again for a fresh score?" If you're creating a new score, there is nothing to revert to. Can you explain what you are trying to do in more detail, and why?
The spread of staves wouldn't change just by answering "yes" to the question of fonts. Did you also go to Format / Style and press the "Reset" button? That would do it. in most cases this should be a much better result, and if you're finding it isn't for one score, it would be something went wrong, so it would be great if you attached your score here so we can investigate.
But assuming this is what is going on, then you can turn off the spread with Format / Style / Page, then click the "Disable vertical justification of staves". That should bring things back more or less to where they were before. Possible other adjustments might be made, so again, if you attach your score, we can understand and assist better.

Thank you for your response, Marc - that was very kind.
I didn't even realise till all this that there is a way of communicating about MuseScore!
Actually, I've come to terms with the way it all looks, so am happy to go with it.
So sorry for the bother, and thank you again for responding.
