Layout in the new format

• Jan 28, 2021 - 11:50

Thank you for all that MuseScore does – it really is great!
However, having had the message come up to change the layout to the new format, I clicked “Yes” before I realised quite how it would appear.
I don’t like the way the staves are spread out over the page in the new layout and would like to revert to the original, but can’t work out how to do it.
Please could you help?

Thank you again.
This works for keeping the old format in scores already created and saved.
However, because I clicked "Yes" when I was making a new score, it doesn't give me the option to revert any more when I open up a blank score - it just goes to the new format.
Could you tell me if there a way of bringing the message up again for a fresh score?
Many thanks,
Theresa

The spread of staves wouldn't change just by answering "yes" to the question of fonts. Did you also go to Format / Style and press the "Reset" button? That would do it. in most cases this should be a much better result, and if you're finding it isn't for one score, it would be something went wrong, so it would be great if you attached your score here so we can investigate.

But assuming this is what is going on, then you can turn off the spread with Format / Style / Page, then click the "Disable vertical justification of staves". That should bring things back more or less to where they were before. Possible other adjustments might be made, so again, if you attach your score, we can understand and assist better.
