I assume these questions are not related? Slapping versus plucking has nothing to do with repeats, after all.
Assuming by repeat bracket you mean a volta, then indeed, see the above link. Short answer - just add it form the Lines palette.
To change the sound of an instrument, see View / Mixer and try one of the other sounds there. if none suit your fancy, you can try other soundfotns - see the Soundfont section of the Handbook for more on that.
