Corrupted File - Time Signature Problems
Hi there, I'm having a file corruption/time signature problem which isn't answered by the MuseScore page on corrupted files: https://musescore.org/en/node/54721
Unless I'm misunderstanding it, the advice on that page seems to be based on the assumption that you can SEE how specific bars have been corrupted, ie you can see that the note values are off. As advised on that page, I looked at the text that tells you where your file has been corrupted, and in my case it's every single bar in the piece. The problem is that it has removed the 3/4 time signature marking I had there originally, and while the music still looks perfect, it plays in 4/4 (screenshot 1). When I try to insert a 3/4 time signature, it adds rests in to every bar (screenshot 2)
Has anyone else experienced this particular kind of corruption? Is there anything I can do that isn't.....start the whole thing again?

Screenshots don't help much. To check what has actually happened, the volunteers on this forum always need the actual score (*.mscz file).

Ok thanks. I am attaching the Musescore file in this comment.

From what I see in the Score properties, this score was created with an older version, 2.0.2.
I think I remember that there was this kind of problem when the time signature was removed (which you should not have done).
Unfortunately, I'm afraid there is no magic formula to restore the score easily now. After you have put back the 3/4 time signature, you will have to cut and paste to put the notes back in the right place (and when necessary, delete the measures that have become empty by this moving edition).
This is what I did in the first page of your score. See: Better.mscz
And a good advice to finish: upgrade to version 3 (currently 3.6.2), you will benefit from countless bug fixes and new features.

Thank you very much for taking the time to reply! Just to clarify though, I didn't delete the time signature myself - that's not something I'd ever do. The time signature was there when I exited, and gone when I opened the score up again and received the corruption notification. Anywho, I've updated my Musescore now. I guess I was thinking correcting it all manually might be a bigger headache than just starting afresh, but I ended up giving that method a go so thanks for getting me started.

Try the attached.
I've extracted the mscx; manually added the 3/4 time signature in and rezipped it.
But please at the very least update to 2.3.2.

Thank you so much! I think it just never occurred to me to update because with every other program I use you're prompted to update when there's a new version. And also because I've just never had any problems before now! Have updated now.
