How to enter banjo tab notes above the 9'th fret?
I'm a new user trying to figure out how to enter banjo tab. I've watched a few tutorial videos but cannot see how to enter a note above the 9'th fret without Musescore moving the note to another string.

Thank you, but I spent hours today trying to follow those instructions. alt shift arrow wouldn't let me input anything above the 9'th fret without changing strings. The second note in my tune is the 10'th fret on the second string and I couldn't enter it.

See https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/tablature#change-string-number, use Ctrl+up/down

I'm not sure what kind of difficulty you're having. In any case, the input of fret 10 (type 1+0) and others (1+1, etc.) is quite normal here. See:

Thanks, I'll try that tomorrow. Most of the time, when I tried to enter a number it changed the note length.
I'm a complete noob at this point, sorry.

For the TABs : you should not type the numbers on the numeric keypad (which indeed change/select the note values), but the numbers on the alphanumeric keypad: the row of numbers above the letters on your keyboard.

Ah...thank you, that was the missing information. I just finished my first tab...now I have to work up the corresponding fiddle part.
Thanks to all who have responded!!!
