Playback one voice

• Apr 3, 2015 - 22:10

If I have a score with four voices (SATB) and want to learn just the tenor part, it would be helpful if I could select just the tenor voice to play back and sing along with. I'm new to Musescore so maybe I have missed seeing how this can be done. If it isn't possible, it would be a nice feature to add.

Unless it is a closed score SA/TB score (soprano and alto in one staff, as voice 1 and 2, Tenor and bass in another staff, too in voice 1 and 2) this is possible quite easily in the mixer (F10), just solo the tenor or mute the other staves.

Right now, you can do this "the long way" by right clicking a note in a voice you want to mute, Select / More, Same voice, and then uncheck Play in the Inspector. Might be just as easy to convert to open socre for practice purposes, though - that takes only seconds via copy & paste & use of selection filter.

Mixer control over each voice is being considered for a future release.

Marc, could you please give a little more detail? After re-reading JoJo's comment and your comment, I realize I don't know the difference between an open score and a closed score.
Even Google doesn't know, "open score vs. closed score in MuseScore 2"

Also, how does your method differ from using Save As... and Opening the new saved score?

Thanks!

To playback just the treble or bass staff of the piano, is even easier:

1. Select all the measures in the staff you don't want to play.
2. Press F8 to open the Inspector. Click the Notes button (bottom left) and uncheck Play.
