Note Beams for Schenkerian Analysis
Hello,
I am trying to notate some Schenkerian analysis for a school project. For clarity, I would like to connect non-consecutive notes with a separate beam. I have attached an example as an image: The ideal result would look something like the uppermost beam above the treble clef. Has anyone done something similar?
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

G'luck to your school project. What with the current state of MS, this stuff can be tedious. If playback is not of utmost importance (timing wise), you could just use 8th notes + post/pre grace notes with hidden stems and offsetting while making use of note-head alterations and a few thickened lines.

Depending on exactly how you want it to look and the specifics of the situation, you might find using lines from the palette, with hooks controlled by the Inspector and some manual adjustments here and there, to work well for you. Here's an example I threw together for a demo recently:
