rests appearing in all of my voices when adding notes to one voice
rests appear when I add notation to one of my staves; this is destroying my composition and messing with the time signature. Google has revealed absolutely nothing to help with this problem and its extremely frustrating on top of the inability to save anything from musescore on my windows computer. 1 is before the note is added and 2 is after the note is added, a rest appears in every measure. Annoying. How to stop this please.

I don't see any added rest in either image

In image 1 there are 6 rests.
In image 2 there are 13 rests.
13 is greater than 6, therefore rests have been added.

Our posts crossed but I was a little surprised that you could not see the added rests.
I do see a measure with an irregular length though, 7/8, and without a grey + in its upper right?
Ah, I see, you're apparently in insert mode, see https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/note-input#insert-notes
Indeed, it seems you accidentally enabled the special "insert mode". Simply return to the standard "step time" note input using the drop down next to the icon.
What do you mean, though, about not being able to save? There is a save button on the toolbar and corresponding command in the File menu, standard shortcut Ctrl+S applies.
if you are having some difficulty with that command, please start a new thread and explain in more detail what you are doing and what specifically goes wrong.
