Impossible bar of music to transcribe
Hi,
I spent some time trying to figure this out, but unfortunately unable to find a solution! I'd appreciate any help.
In the attached image - The first crotchet beat seems to be written in 'free time' in that it contains more notes than the time signature allows, to be performed over the bass note which is being held. Musescore will only allow me to add notes which correspond to the strict time of each bar.
I've tried adding the 8 rising semiquavers as 8 'aftertones', and then moving the preceding crotchet back towards the left using 'edit element', but this doesn't solve the problem, because Musescore places the aftertones over the second crotchet chord in the bass. I also tried playing around with the first quaver + 2 semiquavers, but this didn't work either, and if I write them as grace notes it gives the wrong impression.
I'd be grateful for any assistance in making the 2 crotchet beats + 8 rising semiquavers in the treble be placed over the first base chord only so that it corresponds exactly with the image.

Perhaps make the bar contain as many beats as necessary to accommodate the notes in the top stave then add rests after the first note in the bottom stave and hide them. Maybe fling in a few whole notes to give the playback a better feel and then change their noteheads to crotchets.

Sorry, been away for a few days and just came back to my messages.
That's incredible! Thank you so much :)
Upper staff voice 1:
Tuplet with ratio 2:1 over a duration of 1/8th
Tuplet with ratio 8:2 over a duration of 1/8th
All others are normal notes
Then mark the relevant notes as small in the chord section of the inspector; I've also set their number and bracket types to "none".

MANY THANKS. You guys are great.
And visually it can be done with after grace notes. I didn't use your exact note. Just proof of concept.

I think if you do it that way the beats on each stave don'i line up as per the original.
