Incorrect PDF Import

I have two questions concerning the following image. (Also posted on MuseScore FB page.)

Is there anything I can do to improve the quality of the score produced from the shown PDF? It doesn't bear a whole lot of agreement with the PDF.
What kind of rest is created? It looks like a dotted half, but it cannot be deleted or changed to 3 quarter notes. When selected, cannot "Delete" nor "Cut", using ctl-Del deletes everything in the measure, not just the rest. Cannot be replaced by notes.

Thank you for your assistance. The score for MuseScore was created using its PDF import function which was accomplished with MuseScore dot Com's online function.

Even with professional programs, manual work is usually required after the conversion.
I tried it with a locally installed Audiveris and got a slightly better result.
( I asked musescore.com if it would be possible to integrate the newer version of Audiveris into their PDF conversion)

MuseScore doesn't convert PDF's, it links to Audiveris and the results are often less useful than inputting the notes manually into MuseScore.
