Jump to the second volta when repeating does not work

The second time the range that starts with bar 7 is being played, Musescore is supposed to skip the first volta at bar 16 and jump directly into the 2nd volta at bar 17.
However on repeating the range the first volta is played again before entering the second volta.
I can't figure out why the jump doesn't work and appreciate your help.

There are some strange things in this score:
There is something weird going on with the volta at measure 3. There are additional zero length volta lines on each stave including the top one. You have to move the volta line on the top staff to see the other zero length one.
Try fixing that and perhaps MuseScore will not be so confused.
Thank for checking although these are just graphic symbols without any function - however I removed them.
What still is not working is skipping the first volta on repeating which is a problem at measure 16 and also at measure 41

There is more weirdness in the barline at the start of the malfunctioning repeat
Is this score an import from another application? Perhaps there are other, not so visually discoverable corruptions.
It is an xml import. And has a lot of somilar issues with duplicate barlines, all over ther place
