Decrease layout stretch
I have a one-measure illustration, e.g. a scale, and it stretches right across the page. I want to reduce the width of the measure so that it takes up say only half the page width. I'm using musescore 3.6.2.548020600 on a 2017 MacBook Pro running macOS Monterey 12.0.1. The { doesn't seem to work. Neither does the Ctrl+Alt+8, and neither does the Layout stretch option in the Measure Properties dialogue box. Am I missing a step, using the wrong functions, or can this not be done? Thanks in advance for your help.

Better attach the *.mscz file here.
Have you tried Scaling?

Does reduce overall size but works for my current need. Many thanks.
Insert a horizontal frame

Thank you. Easy work around to solve the problem. Appreciated.
Stretch only affects the relative distribution of measures within a system; it does not change the system width. That's why you think reducing stretch seems to be not working; it is working, but not doing what you think it did.
As Jojo mentioned, the solution is to add a horizontal frame and change the width of the frame.
