cross staff notation help

I don't seem to understand how the cross staff notation is to work. I am reading this help file and I'm using version 3.4. I have attached an image of what I want it to look like. https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/cross-staff-notation

The help file indicates the notes should be entered in the same staff, then use Cntrl. up arrow or down arrow. It also mentions somthing about making it voice two, which doesnt seem to work for me. So I am a little confused and need some help.

Yes upgrade from 3.4. There have been many added features and bug fixes since 3.4.

Your example is quite complex and is one of the few situations where you need to use 3 voices.

This is how I tackled the first measure in your example. There may be other ways to get the same result.
