Can I open files created in Finale with Musescore?
I have .musx files created in Finale that I am trying to open with Musescore because I don't have Finale. Can Musescore read .musx files?

No, that's a proprietary format. But if you can find someone with Finale to export them to MusicXML for you - or grab the free Finale Notepad which may be able to read them and do the export for you - you can import the MusicXML.

I use Finale Notepad 2012 from https://www.klemm-music.de/makemusic/notepad/ to export MusicXML

I can't remember if Notepad has a #-of-staves limit, which is no problem for smaller scores. If you're working on a large score, I have an iMac installation of Finale 2014, I'd be happy to load it and export to the 2 .XML types of file.

There I found a note that Finale Notepad supports up to 8 staves

Last I tried, Finale Notepad could not create scores with more staves than the limit, but it could open them OK if created in the fuller version of the program. And also export them to MusicXML.
