Unable to select bar/measure

Hi , noobie here . Just started using musescore and I'm stuck. Busy trying to create a new score . I've created several bars/measures ok but now I'm stuck. When I try to add more notes/tab the program is stuck on the 1st note of the 1st measure. Can't select new measure on my score but works ok on demo. Have tried factory reset and still the same, so not the program. Have tried all sorts of clicking combinations but getting nowhere. Tried FAQs but no joy . Any suggestions please?

Your should give some more informations.
- Which Musescore version?
- Which OS?
- How do try to make the note entry? By computer keyboard, mouse or MIDI-Keyboard?
