6/8 incorrect?
Am i mistaken that there are 6 1/8th notes notated in the measure?
If so, Why the extra 1/8 note rest?

below your added red bar i see something black poking out a little bit, just after the "5". I suspect it is something related to a tuple perhaps (a triplet over two eights)?
The other answer would have been that you have inserted an extra eighth note, but then there would have been a light grey '+' at the end of the measure.

In that case, this is correct. A sextuplet covering quarter's duration does indeed leave an eighth unaccounted for within the beat, hence the rest. Sounds like you probably didn't want a sextuplet at all based on your counts - just six plain sixteenth notes.
