How to change time signature in one part only

• Nov 18, 2022 - 20:27

Hi,
I'm trying to copy bars 95-108 of the last movement of Mozart's Oboe Quartet, K.370, where only the oboe part changes to time signature cut-C but the other parts continue in 6/8. How can I change the time signature in only one part in a stave, leaving the other parts with the original time signature? When I insert the cut-C into the oboe part, all the parts change. (And then change the oboe part back to 6/8 again in bar 107.)
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
Thank you for your reply. This is really strange. As you saw in my screen grab, the top line thought I was in 3/4 time, which is why I asked for help. But after closing MuseScore and reopening it, it now thinks the top line is in 4/4, without my having changed a thing, other than closing the program and reopening it. Looks like a small bug, or something. At any rate, it's working now,. Thank you again for your help.

Hi again,
I have another problem with this score. In the attached screen grab from the original score, the final bar is obviously not in 4/4 but in 6/4, though oddly it isn't so marked in the score (the lower part continues in 6/8 as before). I thought the simple way to do this would be to Command-drag the 6/4 time signature into that bar, then Command-drag and drop cut-C into the bar that follows it, making both the 6/4 and cut-C invisible. But when I tried to drag 6/4 into the relevant bar, I got a message saying "Cannot change local time signature: Measure is not empty". The only things in that bar are two rests, as in all other empty (i.e., not yet completed) bars - definitely no notes (screen grab of that bar also attached). How to fix this, please? Closing MuseScore and reopening it didn't help.
Thanks again for your help.
