I opened my file first in MuseScore 4 and revisited it in MuseScore 3. All of a sudden, it said that the default app for this file was MuseScore 4. Then, everything was completely erased and now I am desperately looking for a way to recover my score. Please, tell me what's going on! This was a score that I worked on for months!

MuseScore never ever deletes your files. If you aren't seeing it in the place where you are looking, then you simply aren't looking in the correct place. But I'm confused, because it seems, you found it - you attached it right here? This file was last saved in 3.6.2, so I'm not sure what it is meant to represent. It is indeed empty, but that can't have anything to do with MuseScore 4, since it was never saved in that version. I'mn guessing you are simply looking at the wrong copy of the file, and the version you are worked on is simply saved in a different folder.
If you need helping locating your file, I encourage you to ask for help on the Support forum, where others with more system administration experience can potentially assist you in locating your file., be sure to say what OS you are using, and what folder you are looking in, what other folders you commonly use, etc.

I am having a very similar problem. I had a score saved in MuseScore 4, tried to open it in 3 and then when I did that it changed the file to a completely blank one.
Well, that's not deleting, that's just normal that MuseScore 3 can't open MuseScore 4 files. If you saved it in MsueScore 4, you'll need to use MuseScvore 4 to open it now.
