Cue Instrument
I'm using version 4.01.
I added a cue line to the Bass Clarinet. I think I did it correctly --- see attached "Cue Line_2/27". Any notes I add to the Cue part play back as Bass Clarinet. That's OK. The problem is, these cues (which might be a singer's notes) now play back in the main score as Bass Clarinet! In other words, my singer's part is playing back simultaneously as a voice and as a bass clarinet. More maddening: 1) it doesn't help to close the Bass Clarinet part 2) this wasn't happening yesterday. I don't see a way to turn off the Cue line's playback. Ideas?

Hard to say much from just a screenshot, but to disable playback for cue or other notes, just uncheck "Play" for the notes themselves, in the Properties panel.
If you continue to have trouble, please attach your score and give precise steps to reproduce the problem. Then we can understand and assist better.

Here is an instance in which there are no notes in the cue line for the violin, but the violin part is now being played with a bass clarinet sound. This is probably connected in some weird way to the problem I was having with the Bass Clarinet cue part. As for disabling playback by unchecking "Play", I see no way to uncheck "Play" (see attached file :Playback?").

The Play property is only visible when viewing the score, not a specific part.
Regarding the score you attached - which note in which measure are you experiencing a problem with? For me the violin plays as violin throughout. It is of course doubling the bass clarinet. If you're playing the bass clarinet staff expecting it to sound like a violin, that/s not going to happen - well, not unless you add appropriate instrument changes.

Oh. Sorry. That doubling of the violin by the Clarinet is not supposed to be there. I didn't notice it, and I don't know when or how it happened. Yes, the violin will play as violin without that. How can I delete the entire unwanted staff? I can't see a way.

On the Instruments panel, left sidebar. To delete an entire instrument, select it there and press Delete. To delete just one of its staves, click the button to expand the instrument and shows it staves, then select and delete.

There is no need to delete anything, the phantom doubling was only in that selection I sent (again, I don't know what magic combination of keystrokes caused it).
