MuseScore 4 cannot see/use my custom templates (Ubuntu Linux)
Hi there!
I was hoping someone could help. I have the latest MuseScore 4.0.2 downloaded from the website using the Appimage to Ubuntu Linux.
For some reason, MuseScore cannot or will not see my custom templates in the template folder. I have checked the folder location in Preferences>General>Folders, and have even changed the folder multiple times. I have restarted my PC multiple times too, but to no avail. I still cannot create a score from any custom template in any folder.
Perhaps this is a bug, or perhaps I'm doing something wrong?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Check where MuseScore expects to find your Templates folder. The folder is shown here:
Edit > Preferences > General > Folders > Templates
Is it a hidden folder?
Does it actually contain template files?

Hi Daniel, thanks for the reply. Indeed I did it multiple times, as I mentioned. Still no luck. It's full of template files.

Oop I restarted my PC a couple more times and suddenly they showed up. Oh well.
Are these templates you are carrying over from an older version? IN theory that works, but some people have found it helps to open them normally then resave them in MU4 format first - and be sure to give them a title.

Nope, I made new ones in Mu4. Still no luck. Perhaps there's something with the way the AppImage is packaged that it doesn't see the templates? I'm taking wild guesses here. I kinda rely on templates because I transcribe a heck of a lot of music.

I guess restarting MuseScore would have been sufficient
