Bend between two notes

• Jun 21, 2023 - 10:42

I am composing a song and I want to insert a bend between two notes. Not a glissando, a bend between two notes. How do I do this?

Was thus with Muse Sounds (where it is only supported for notes where it was specifically samples) or a soundfont like
MS. ASIC (where it should work for all notes of the instrument itself is capable of it)? Or a VST, in which case you’d probably need to consult their documentation to learn how to make it work?

If you attach your score we can understand and assist better.

I'm not sure.

It appears that the sound bends down further than usual then plays a super super high note for a split second then plays what is supposed to be the destination note of the bend.

I'm having trouble uploading the musescore file for the sample for the flute, so hold on if necessary.

Ah, that's with an older version of MsueScore, that would have been useful to have clarified. The weird glitch with the gliss playback is fixed already in current versions, at least for normal cases. The octave line here is also confusing things, and is definitely not a good to use for flute anyhow - that note should simply be written with ledger lines. Also, you created this score for piano, but pianos can't play portamento. If you want flute, you should actually choose that as the instrument, don't choose piano then change the sound.

So add the gliss symbol then set its playback style to portamento in the Properties panel. Note this isn't supported in Muse Sounds except where it was specifically sampled. And add text to clarify your meaning.

If it's for guitar specifically, you use the "slide" symbol.
