I am not able to create tablature with MuseScore 4.
I watched a video that showed using AnthemScore and MuseScore to take an mp3, convert it to notation in AnthemScore, and then use MuseScore to convert the notation to tablature. I used a WAV file of a recording of my banjo. AnthemScore did not have a banjo instrument listed so I first tried piano and then tried guitar. I succssfully loaded the xml file into MuseScore but it would not create any tablature. What am I doing wrong? I can find nothing in the v4 handbook that talks about converting to tablature. Even worse, it does not have anything about deleting a file/score. I tried again with a guitar wav file and got the same result, no tablature was generated. The guitar files are attached.

Try this:
With your piano PDF open, hit "I" to open the instruments dialogue.
Find acoustic guitar (or classical) tablature and add two of those instruments.
Just to test the procedure, select a few measures of the top piano staff. C + P into the first tab staff.
C + P the same measures of the bottom piano staff into the second tab staff.
Select the measures of both tab staves that you pasted and go to Tools in the menu bar.
Select "Implode". Both tab parts are on one staff. I had to do it that way because it didn't work to C + P both piano staves into one tab staff at once.

Thanks for the info. I finally got some tab but it was not where near correct. It was way out of register. I am not confident that this program can correctly convert banjo or guitar to tab. Also, v4 is totally different from v3 and the straight forward videos for doing things in v3. The handbook is not worth much. It does not tell you how to delete a file/score or how to create tab. Are there other programs that can convert to tab better than this?

Scores are just ordinary files on your computer - you delete them the same as any other files on your computer, using your favorite file browser (eg, Explorer on Windows, Finder on macOS).
As for how to change a staff from standard to tab and other specific questions about tablature, be sure to read the entire guitar chapter. This is definitely covered. But it's also quite simple - in the Instrument panel, expand the listing for the instrument to show its staves, then click the gear icon for the specific staff you want to change, then change it. Simple as that.
But, also, be aware that guitar sounds an octave lower than written, so music written normally in standard notation would need to be transposed down an octave to sound right. Ctrl+A to select all, Ctrl+Down to transpose it down.
It's true a video designed to show how to do things in MU3 won't always help much in MU4, but that's just because that video is out of date, not because it's any less straightforward now.

I just tried a single clef version of my file and got no tab at all. Something is wrong with V4.

MuseScore can transcribe to tablature, of course. But the first question is what you want to achieve. There are so many notes in the piano xml file that even the best guitarist won't be able to play them. Either you can create a duet (which makes things easier, of course), or you do some specific arrangement work to find out which notes to keep and which to eliminate. A transposition may also help.
For the moment, I've simply cut and pasted the two piano staves for two guitar staves. You get a duet, where there's already a lot of work to be done to improve things.

Thanks for the info and the time you spent. I am seeing multiple problems: first, I play 5 string banjo, so the proper solution would be to get a notation of the banjo notes, not piano notes; second, the MuseScore videos recommended AnthemScore which does not appear to support banjo since its output appears to default to piano or an orchestra instrument which is quite limiting; third, the MuseScore handbook doesn't address tab creation nor does it address basic file management such as deleting a file; fourth, the functions and execution are not intuitively obvious. Kudos to the MuseScore developers for a great idea and nice basic capability, but its documentation is poor and supposed functionality is sketchy.

Not sure which videos you saw that recommended Anthemscore, but of course no one here can control what any random YouTube user recommends. If Anthemscvore isn't functioning as you want, that's not the fault of MuseScore of course! but feel free to ask for help on the Anthemscore forums if you have further questions about their product.
The Habdook absolutely discusses tablature, in great detail. Please read the entire chapter on guitar and then if you have a specific question about a specific section, feel free to ask - best to quote the section you are having trouble understanding, and then we can clarify.
As explained earlier, scores are just normal files on your computer that are deleted like any other files. The MuseScore documentation doesn't cover basic computer maintenance like how to shut off your computer or add users or set the clock or clean your keyboard either :-)

Thanks Marc. The videos I found are very numerous by a guy with a beard who always starts with "I hope you are well". I will download the handbook and do a better job going through it.
