Extreme stretch measure won't reduce
I made a bunch of small changes to a score (dynamics, etc.) and saved it and now I go back and one of the measures is EXTREMLY stretched. I've tried reducing the stretch under Format/Stretch. I've also tried reducing the layout stretch under Measure Properties. Nothing has any effect on that stubborn measure. Anything else I can try? It's adding an extra page to my score. :( Thank you!

"Anything else I can try?"
Try attaching your score here (the .mscz file). There is probably a setting that has been inadvertently adjusted. But we can't see the settings in a picture.
Be sure formatting is being displayed. (View -> Show -> Show formatting.) There might be hidden breaks in the score.
Thank you for your replies. I have everything checked under Show, no joy.
I've attached the full file. Hope that helps.

Sometimes there might be "phantom formatting" as I like to call it. Don't know how it got in there, but MuseScore formatting is tripped-up by whatever it is.
Here's how I fixed your measures 110-111. Select the 2 measures and Cut all contents with Ctrl-X. The result is 2 empty measures. Select the top rest in measure 110 and do a Paste (Ctrl-V). Presto! All fixed.
Good luck.

I don't have MU3. I opened this in MU4 and did this:
I deleted the ties between measures 108 and 109 and the word "they" so that the measures where not joined in any way. Then I added two measures after 108. Then C+P 109 and 110 into the two new measures. Deleted the two old measures. Readded ties and words. Deleted the system break after Measure 140.
You should be able to open at least one of these files. Good luck.
Sounds like Dave got it for you.

Thank you for attaching the score. It is always best to attach a score when seeking assistance.
Looking at the score, here is what went wrong:
If you select a note on the 4th beat - i.e, immediately after the large gap, in the inspector you can see leading space = 50.
Press the reset button pointed to by the arrow to reset the leading space to its default value of zero.

Thank you for that information, that will be most helpful in future. Strange thing to happen.

It could be the result of an inadvertent drag with the mouse. But without a time machine we will never know.

In MU4, I can do a similar thing by selecting the 1/8 note beam in 110 and reset it. May not apply to MU3. Just thought I throw in another possibility. This is how I learn things.

Good call on the leading space, @SteveBlower. Smart. Here's what it looked like to me in MU4.
