Notating Triplets
How can I notate a triplet?
Every time I try, Musescore creates triplet semi quavers with rests instead, when I tap the triplet button at the top. Super weird behaviour.
Is there a way to make the quavers in my attached image into triplets?

Isn't a triplet a stock setting for a notation program?
If I hit triplet quaver, I shouldn't be seeing semi quavers

Yes, i think triplets can (at this time) only made "empty", not converting notes in triplets.
However, when you select a quarter note and apply the command to it, it presevers the note at the first "digit" of the created triplet.

Creating them from scratch does not work. They are made into semiquaver triplets when I click the triplet button

What else do you expect? A triplet is 3 in the space of 2, a quaver is 2 semiquavers, so as a triplet is 3 semiquavers
Does anyone have a certified way to create a triplet?

Also, see the nice picture here:

You have to create the triplet first (empty, with rests) and add the notes into it. When you create a triplet in a place where there are already notes, it overwrites those existing notes to write the (blank!) triplet in their place ... similar to what would happen if you had typed some other kind of note on top of existing notes.
