Musescore 4.3.2 Music Playing Too Fast

• Aug 7, 2024 - 02:44

I recently noticed that Musescore 4 was unusually fast when playing a preview of the score. It's not that I didn't set the tempo mark - it's that Musescore plays much faster than the tempo mark should be (roughly twice as fast as it should be).

How so & How to reproduce?

I'm running into this issue at least in version 4.3.2 of Musescore Studio, and the way I'm sure it should be playing is that the playback toolbar in the top right corner is ticking much faster than it should be.

So, to reproduce the issue, simply:
1. Create a blank score, but don't set the tempo at the beginning of the score
2. Add some melody
3. Drag the tempo symbol from the list of symbols on the left onto the first note of the melody on the right (whether the tempo is defined in half notes or something else)
4. Play

It should be noticeable that it's unusually fast. However, if you choose to export to MP3, the playback speed of the songs in the exported file is normal again.

In fact, I found out later that when I adjust the playback speed with the speed percentage of the playback bar, when the percentage is 50%, the song plays at exactly the same speed as it should be.

I tried flipping through the help docs but found nothing. Pls how can I fix this?

Unfortunately it doesn't work.

Also, I forgot to mention that not only does Musescore play too fast, but it also plays an octave higher than it should be. Similarly, when you select Export to File, you don't have this problem with the exported audio file.

In addition, I confirm that my device meets all of the recommended requirements indicated by Musescore for normal playback. Increasing the cache size in the I/O interface proved useless.

I have this problem too. The suggestions do not change anything.

(And where is the 'playback speed percentage' control?)
