Multiple Repeats (x 4)

• Oct 25, 2024 - 18:48

I am a relatively newcomer to Musescore Studio 4. I have been trying to set up a repeat (x 4) for 12 measures (bars), I have changed the "Play Count" in the Bar Properties in the last measure to 4, in the last measure (bar) of the 12 measures i.e where I have placed the right end repeat sign.
When I press play for these measures, it repeats x 2 and then continues on to the end of the music.

What Have I not done or should be doing to make it repeat x 4?

thanks,

Phil T

See the Voltas section in the MuseScore 4 Handbook.

First select the measure with the repeat sign (last measure of the volta if it has more than one measure) and change the Play count in the Measure Properties dialog to "4".

Then, select the first volta. In the Properties tab (upper left), under Volta / Style, set the Repeat list to "1,2,3". This changes the playback behavior. Volta / Text, change the Beginning text to "1-3". This changes the display text.

Finally, select the second volta. In the Properties tab, under Volta / Style, set the Repeat list to "4". Under Volta / Text, change the Beginning text to "4".

Now play it: should play four times, and play the first volta the first three of them.

Once you have done what you have described, it should be repeated 4 times.
I assume that the repeat measure has not assumed the play count of 4, but is still set to 2!

Hi,
Many thanks for coming back to me.

When I click onto Properties tab (upper left) I do not see Volta/Style in the drop down menu. All I see is: ^General (Visible, Auto-play, Cue Style), ^ Bar (Insert Bars), and ^ Notation (Note, Rest). Maybe this could be my problem - how do get to view Volta/Style?

regards,

Phil T
