Musescore is making everything sound pizzicato

• Nov 11, 2024 - 23:03

Whenever I click on a bowed string part it makes it sound like pizzicato. It plays arco sometimes, and randomly pizzicato others. also putting text that makes it arco doesn't help at all.
It's been solved. I'm good now, it was just Musestrings or whatever.

Yeah, it's doing it in one of my string pieces, it's doing it to the chord I have marked here, and when I click on the string parts they all sound col legno, even though they are all meant to be in arco.

Update—it's doing it with all my string peices, and now I can't compose with musesounds until It's fixed.

This still isn't fixed. I don't think this is a problem with Muse Sounds because the same notes play pizzacato when using both Muse Strings and Spitfire Audio Chamber Strings. This must be a bug in the MuseScore 4 code.

MuseScore is currently unusable for composing for strings.

MuseScore 4: 4.4.3.242971445
Spitfire Audio Chamber Strings: 1.0.8
Muse Strings: 0.4.23

OK, this is annoying. I just downgraded to MuseScore Studio 4 version 4.4.2 (September 2024) which was before this bug was reported and it hasn't fixed the issue! I'm still getting pizzacato where it should be bowed.

I wondered if it was some corruption in the mscz file, so I downloaded an older version of the score that plays correctly from musescore.com site. The pizzacato error occurs on the desktop version, despite this score playing correctly online.

So, I tried re-uploading the same file that I'd just downloaded that was playing pizzacato on my desktop and it plays bowed when uploaded again.

I'm unable to work on my scores.

Video here shows score playing correctly on musescore.com and incorrectly on musescore 4 desktop app (4.4.2): https://photos.app.goo.gl/uLAU9WA8xPtoaVe27

The bug was never in MuseScore and was also not a data corruption issue, but rather was an issue with a specific version of each of the string libraries on Muse Hub. Muse Hub released another update for each string library the very next day that fixed the issue. Have you checked in Muse Hub to see if all your Muse Sounds are up to date (using the Notifications button in the lower left corner of the app)?

Same is happening to me.
I normally transcribe with MS Basics, and arrange and balance the dynamics with MuseSounds (and without mixing). I can't arrange anything if random notes are going to play pizzicatos and I can't hear long notes' dynamics.

This is on the latest MuseScore 4 update (4.4.4) and the latest Muse Strings update (0.4.23) the problem doesn't happen at specific measures, it seems to be completely random and interspersed through the piece. Some notes play fine, others either don't play at all, or abruptly become Bartok pizz..
