Why is it so difficult to simply lock a score lol
They moved the functionality from a global lock to an individual element in the inspector tab. Only when you select all elements to lock the score is that supposedly an option but then no longer available in the inspector tab. Now in Sibelius 7 simply click the review tab and lock the score. 🤣 Basic functionality for any UID (User Interface Design) team that is not a thrown-together mess.

If you view the score in the Publish tab it is impossible to edit it. i.e. it is locked.

You can still drag notes with the mouse.

Hmm?? So you can. I don't use the mouse much.
That seems rather inconsistent and not very useful. I will report on github.
[Edit] Already there it seems https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/issues/13397

Yeah and that's the whole problem I'm having is when the music when I'm doing playback I want to click some place to go back and it's silly enough programming on the user interface to not let me just click on an area I have to actually click on a note to go back. Then I accidentally dragged the note or highlighter area by accident that I did not care to I mean preview mode is just something you build into these type user interfaces, or at least should . I mean we did 20 years ago.

Sounds like you're saying that—when you want to start full score playback at a designated point—it's somewhat taxing that MuseScore 4 requires you to select a single note on any system, or make a selection on all systems. Alternately, if you make your selection on any system, MuseScore assumes you want to solo that track ... or the range of selected tracks.
If that's your point, I agree.
I'd like to see a different method for temporary soloing tracks. It's great to be able to temporarily solo parts without running to the Mixer, but restarting full playback should be simple, because it's likely the most common activity.
I've been wondering if I've been missing something.

>"full score" playback at a designated point
No I don't think that is what I am saying (sometimes I don't know lol).
I meant to say "partial" score playback at a designated point.
So I want to click on a blank area within a beat (not on a note) of a given measure and it plays from that point (so I don't accidentally rearrange the score by accidentally moving the note.) I am using it in touch mode on windows from a aux. monitor.
I mean it beats Sib where you can't even click to go back to a certain point without stopping the whole score. (At least on my version of Sib ultimate build 1145 from 2019)
That is the whole point of my other question on how to lock the score which seems to no longer be easily possible (in 4x vs 3x versions) which makes no sense. (kinda like me :) )

Oh thanks I didn't realize it was open source and it just anyone could add code. I wish I had the original source for 4.44 that might be fun. If I could remember what the hell I'm doing with it and what language is in. Back in the day I could pretty much do any language.

The source code is on GitHub, that includes the one for 4.4.4. It is C++ and QML
