Beaming

I don't know if it's too late to consider for 2.0, but I'm just looking at beaming in some scores.

The angle is too pointy:

I'm not sure if it's related, but maybe the distance between notes have a knock-on effect in other elements, such as the inner beam:

Here is a test suite based on pages 19-26 of 'Behind Bars'. I'm not sure if the score will demonstrate the case well (partly due to limitations of 1.3 and the layout may not reflect the situations described), but it's a start.

Not related to the original issue but when I open the test file in the current 36380df3cc, I get a spurious clef in the first measure. Looking at the MSCX, I see a clef at tick 3.. so not at the beginning of the measure but just a bit later... Any idea how you managed to do this?

I agree with your assessment that the angle is too sharp.

Gould's specific recommendation in Behind Bars is "Notes spaced very close together horizontally (closer than three spaces) take only a slight angle (1/4 or 1/2 space) regardless of the interval)" (p. 20).
