Cannot insert image.
I notice that the additions to 9.4 include the ability to drag and drop an image (JPG or PNG) into a score. I also see from the manual that frames are able to contain pictures. However I cannot get either to work.
This would have been useful to me as I wanted to add an "alternative" bar -- which I created as a JPG. However, drag and drop did nothing except create a new empty score (?)
Perhaps there is another, better, way to create altenate bars?

Just tested in Vista with 0.9.4 and it works.
- Create a new piano score from template
- Drag and drop a jpg file on the score.

To remove all other variables I rebooted (in case in updating some old library was left loaded) and did as you did -- created a new piano score from template but d&d has the same effect as before. I am using XP.

With what kind of image file (jpg, png24, png8, alpha layered, transparant, ...) did you try?

JPG (saved from MSPaint)
PNG (saved from MSPaint)
JPG (saved from PaintShopPro)
I don't know if drag and drop of MSC files is supported, but when I try it I get a blank score (which is what I get when I drag & drop a JPG)

It has nothing todo with your score, but with the JPG file. I would reproduce your problem with 0.9.4 on Vista.
Attached is a png file of your image which does work on my system. Now, we just need to figure out what the difference is.

That's some impressive service.
Your PNG worked, no problems. I suspect that there's some issue with MSPaint's optimization of JPGs that caused this (though I'm surprised at PaintShopPro).
I'll report back if I glean any insights.

It looks like MuseScore has problems with the uppercase "JPG". If you rename your file with a lowercase file extension ("jpg") then MuseScore recognizes it correctly.

Your are right. MuseScore detects the file type by the file name suffix and accepts only lower case characters. I changed this so that lower case and upper case extensions should work now.
I had troubles dragging and dropping too. I can't say if this was your problem or not, but I found that I could only use an image file which was stored on my C: drive. If it was on any other drive (even just a partition drive), it wouldn't work.
