Problems with sounds on MuseScore
Hey, I'm having trouble with the sounds of the instruments on my MuseScore software. I was going to compose a Piano Sonata and when I put the fist note on the score, it sounded like an almost inaudible wind instrument. Which was pretty ironic since I wanted a Piano sound.
Any answers, please?

Which version of MuseScore are you using ? On which operating system?

I'm using MuseScore 1.1 on Windows Desktop.

Which version of Windows are you running? XP, Vista or Windows 7?
I wonder if your laptop soundcard has been disabled somehow?
Can you play back on Windows Media Player?
The other thing that immediately occurs to me is that the SoundFont file inside MuseScore has become corrupted or missing.
Have you tried re-installing MuseScore??

I have in fact re-installed MuseScore.
I have Windows XP
I have a DESKTOP, but it is powered by a 24-hour charged Laptop.
I don't use Windows Media Player for playback.
Let me know if you can somehow find the exact answer whether if the SoundFont File IS corrupted or missing.

If I actually understand what you are asking, I would suggest that you ignore the apparent sound while entering, enter a few bars and then play it back to see what sound you are getting.
Also check the volume by: Display>Playpanel. (F11 on my PC).

Running Windows XP pro. The soundcard is very functional as I'm using this same computer with Cubase.
Have re-installed 1.1 still no change. Where I can I access the SounfFount file?

The Soundfont file is in the MuseScore directory.
On my system that is C:\ProgramFiles\MuseScore\Sound
Just installed Musescore 1.1 on my other computer and I cannot get Enable Sound icon to engage. I'm using this particular keyboard with Cubase so I know the computer is capable of sound.
I've reinstalled 1.1 just to make sure I don't have any missing files. Still no luck. Help!
Tom

Basically, the most likely possibilities are that you don't have a valid soundfont select in Display->Synthesizer, or something in Edit->Preferences is not configured correctly for your computer. Normally both would be right by default, but there so many different possible configurations to support, I can't say I'm surprised when occasionally defaults don't work right (in any program, not just MuseScore).

Hi,
I am new in Musescore.
I have version 1.2 in a Windows XP Pro SP3 desk top.
The sound when I playback any score was good only in the first 3 bars. Then it becames scratchy with lots of noise.
Tried several combinations in the options panel , output sound, and nothing worked.
After restarting Musescore it was always the same: first 3 bars ok, then noise again.
It was only when I changed the language that as been automaticaly selected on the instalation (Portuguese in my case) to American English that the problem was gone.
I hope that this helps someone in the same problem.

Hi, I installed musescore 1.2 on Windows 7 in a laptop which does play Cubase but I get the same problem, the first three bars are okay and then the sound becomes horrible, the language is set to English already so I don't know what to do, where do you set the language? Maybe another version of English would do the trick, I take it many people are satisfied with the product so it must be possible. Please help!

Go to Display -> Synthesizer and change the Rev slider value. It should solve it.
