question about formats
Hello
I am looking for some software that I can use with my students. I want to write out scales and exercises and be able to email them to various people in either JPG OR GIFF FORMAT.
If they have to have this program installed on their system in order for them to read it, then it wont do me any good.
Is it possible to save the charts I create with musescore in a format that does not need any special programs to read it?
Thanks

You can use PDF, PS, PNG or SVG, see also File Formats
Or you can try the Snippet Creator Plugin
BTW, while it is possible to convert PNG to JPEG, you generally don't want to - it will just degrade quality, for no benefit. PNG is every bit as standard a graphic format as JPEG. Of course, PDF is very nice too and better suited to a lot of applications, particularly if you re dealing with multi-page documents, or wish to create documents that look equally good on screen or printed. Anyhow, the point being, JPEG is really not a good format for this sort of thing. It is better suited for photos than graphics or documents.

Everyone should be able to read a pdf file on their computer. If not, they should fix the problem! Period! Exclamation mark!
Everyone should also be able to print out a pdf file. They will get razor sharp images of the sheet music (depending on what printer they have). No need to preinstall any fonts.
And, of course, every student can afford MuseScore, if you want to share the music as files that they can edit themselves (for transposing purposes etc.)
