Looking for Specific Soundfont

• Jul 10, 2017 - 05:42

I'm trying to find a specific soundfont for the drumset to sound like how to does in the Hotline Miami 1 & 2 soundtrack(ex: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ICjD3f-8SXE). I'm primarily looking for how the snare sounds in these soundtracks. Also, I'd like to know if there are any soundfonts that can emulate how the synths in these songs sound(I know that the strings synthesizer and square synthesizers come pretty close to it).

For the snare, try the TR808 kit. You would need a delay to best achieve the echo effect though.

Good luck with the detuning cycle on the square synth; MuseScore doesn't do that easily.
I imagine it could be done, but it would require a lot of patience.

For the 'delay': copy the snare part to a new staff; delay by the needed amount (quarter, dotted eighth, eighth, etc.); lower the volume in the mixer; hide the staff or make it small if desired. Repeat as needed. I included a short example of delay I used once. Delay.mscz

There is no proper adjustable fine tuning per instrument in MuseScore. It would have to be done with micro-tonal pitch bends on every note. Make them invisible if needed. Most other DAWs / sequencers would make this easy by comparison.

Try not to get too hung up on how things sound in MuseScore. This way madness lies.

Good luck.
