Staff spacing in different pages

• Sep 15, 2017 - 02:31

So... I was looking at other questions from many users (years ago) who needed to set the staff spacings of the first page differently than from the other pages (in order to have the staves distributed evenly in each page). I get frustrated with this since I consider it a basic thing. I mean, it's obvious that one would want to do that in a score. PLEASE, someone give me a solution different than creating different documents. Thanks :)

Currently two documents is the easiest way. I've put in a feature request to allow unique formatting for the first page, we'll what happens in version 3.0

I found a solution like this: (Page Size: A4)
(Layout, Page Settings) I make both Top Margin settings of the page 20mm.
(on Inspector) Title Frame's "height" setting: -10sp (negative)
(on Inspector) Title Frame's "top Margin" setting: -15mm (negative)

Of course, you can try different settings.

PS. Of course: there is some extra space above: all of the pages, but it looks nice :)

For scores I usually make a separate title page, then begin the actual score on p. 2 (for little pieces) or 4 (for larger scores). That way all that is on the first page above the first system is the tempo marking.
For parts I like to do it this way: The same setting on all pages. A vertical frame above the first system (select first measure and enter frame). I adjust the frame such that there is 1 (or 2) system less on the first page and have the other systems align between page 1 and 2 (and all the others obviously). Then I fix the title into the frame. (Sometimes it is better to make a title page for parts also; it depends on where the breaks are one can use for page turns).
