Need help with Crescendos

I just exported a midi file into Musescore, and while fixing some of the issues with the piece, I wasn't able to put a crescendo on the snare drum. I looked in the handbook how to do this, and I believe I followed all the steps correctly, but I am new to the software and not sure if I did anything wrong. When I play the piece, the volume and velocity of all the notes sound the same throughout. The relevant part is measures 164-170.

It's due to a common velocity concern with these imported midi files. To avoid this: begin to select all the score (Ctrl + A) -> click on "Notes" button at the bottom of the Inspector panel.
Then, in Inspector, reset the "Velocity type" (ie Offset instead of User) and reset the "Velocity" (ie set to 0 value). Image below.
And now, the crescendo in measures 164-170 will work fine. See: 1The_Shadow_of_the_World.mscz
