tempo equivalents at meter changes
The first bars are 12/8 dotted quarter = 56. The 4/4 is quarter = 56 (the tempo remains steady). I would like to do it the conventional way of adding tempo equivalents (quarter = dotted quarter) above the system. How? I can't find it. (pdf below)

Just add the tempo text and edit it to read how you like (use the text toolbar or press F2 to bring up the "Special Characters" window to access the note symbols). Then use the Inspector to set playback.

Thanks. I was not aware of the text toolbar because the piano keyboard always covered it. So, it's the first time I've used it. (Properly, I think). However, I do not know what you mean by "use inspector to set playback". The inspector only moves the text around and controls visibility. In order to set the playback tempo (to keep it steady) I had to re-enter the tempo (x=56) and make it invisible. Is that correct?

Check the Inspector again :-). If you have a tempo text selected, you can set the tempo directly. Just uncheck the "follow text" option and then the tempo control becomes active.

Well, duh! I'd executed a "system text" because that's all I knew at the time. It worked fine.
Grazie!
These relativ tempo changes will be available in the next major version
