Mac user - Edit text of element ?
3 questions. 1) What does the button "three little dots on a key" refer to on a MAC ?
2) how do i change color of text on MAC ? Tried inspector. Can't do.
3) How do I edit TEXT in an element: I use the command specified in the manual: Cmd +E by clicking on an element. The text I want to edit appears between 2 handles. When I click on the text, however I cannot edit. What am I missing ?

1) no idea what you mean - is this a key on your computer? Probably a question better suited to a Mac-specific forum rather than a MuseScore one
2) Actual text color is changed through either the Inspector or Text Properties (right-click the text to display, probably Ctrl+click or two-finger tap for you). My guess from your picture is that you aren't talking about text but a text line; see below. But the Inspector should work. Nothing about the picture you posted suggests otherwise. The Inspector shows the color set to black, and that's the color I assume the element will appear as once you deselect it. If you wish to change the line color to something other than the default black, be sure to use the "Line" section of the Inspector. To change the text color within the text line, use Line Properties (see below).
3) The element you clicked is not text per se, it is a text line. To edit the edit within a text line, right-click it and select Line Properties.

ok :) thx. i'll try to clarify
again, the instructions may apply to PC users, but how about MAC users?
reg. 1) see pic 1 attached. this does not make a lot of sense on a MAC. does "text properties" refer to , in part , the "spelling" of the text itself ?
reg 2) i figured it out - but it was not obvious.
reg 3) i'll rephrase the question : how do i edit the TEXT within a line . i tried to follow the instruction (in pics 2 and 3) - what am i missing ? i.o.w : how would you change the "VII" text part of the line, for instance, to a "CII" ?

Mac is not very much different from PC. The main difference is that any time a keyboard shortcut with Ctrl is mentioned, Mac users need to substitute Cmd. Otherwise, it's pretty much the same. For some reason, Mac users seem to typically not be aware that that on systems without a two-button mouse, "right-click" translates to either "Ctrl-click" or two-finger tap, but that's not really a Mac vs PC difference per se - most PC's don't have two-button mice (or indeed mice at all) these days either.
Anyhow, to answer your specific questions:
1) "Text properties" normally refers to the item on the menu that appears when you successful right-click on a text element. But in your case, it's not an actual text element, it's a line. So the instructions shown in your picture apply quite literally. Once you successfully right-click on a line, you'll see a menu that includes "Line Properties", exactly as the documentation says. And when you click "Line Properties" in that menu, you'll see a dialog that includes a button with three dots exactly as shown in the manual. it's exactly the same for PC and Mac.
2) OK. Since MuseScore is open source, feel free to edit the Handbook page if you found something non-obvious about it.
3) Exactly as I described previously, and exactly as shown in your picture #1, you need to right-click on the line, choose Line Properties from the menu that pops up, and then edit the text in the dialog that appears. Again, precisely the same on PC and Mac. Note ypur picture #3 is not relevant here, that is from a page talking about customizing the palette itself. You're not doing that, you're customizing the line in your score. At leadt, you should be :-). That is, add the line to your score, and then customize that. Maybe this is what you've been misunderstanding all along - maybe you've been trying to change the text within the palette? That isn't a thing :-)

Sorry but what you wrote about is what I have been doing all along. Attached is a screen shot of what is visible as far as line properties menu is concerned. What is missing ?

That is a picture of the Inspector, not of the Line Properties dialog. Again, you need to "right-click" (or equivalent for your particular system, like Ctrl+click) the line, which pops up a menu, and from that menu, you need to select Line Properties. This will bring up the actual Line Properties dialog, which again is totally separate from the Insepctor widow shown on your image.

Ah, here the problem is that there is no predefined "sym" named "Cii". The "sym" tag is to get the special glyph for the "22", but since there is no special "Cii" glyph, you need to get rid of the "sym" tab and replace the entire text with just "Cii".
BTW, I don't know what "Cii" is meant to indicate, but unless you literally want that line played three octaves higher than written (which is what the "22" line is for), better to use a "plain" text line rather than an ottava line. The plain line is the one towards the end of the palette with the default label "VII". Bonus - if you use that line, there won't be any "sym" tag to delete :-)
