Musescore freezes navigating large scores

• Nov 28, 2018 - 09:52

Download and open the Musescore file format version of https://musescore.com/openscore/scores/5271023.

Switch page view to continuous. Try to navigate around the score. It hangs for up to a minute. And my computer has 16GB memory.

Yes, it was the same for me when putting the score together. It's a combination of the score being really big and MuseScore trying to do a complete relayout every time you make a change. I always keep the movements as separate files for this reason, and only join them together at the last minute (and I do so using a Python script rather than in MuseScore).

This issue is largely fixed in MuseScore 3, but in the meantime you can use the separate movements available at https://musescore.com/user/16916841/sets/5097357.

That score's MusicXML has an error too
"Fatal error: line 504838 column 27 Element tie is not defined in this scope."

Edit: and loading in a recent 3.0 build gives:
Measure 459, staff 52, voice 2 too long. Expected: 6/8; Found: 54/48
Measure 459, staff 54, voice 2 too long. Expected: 6/8; Found: 54/48
Measure 462, staff 52, voice 2 too long. Expected: 6/8; Found: 54/48
Measure 462, staff 54, voice 2 too long. Expected: 6/8; Found: 54/48

Loads after that but is still painfully slow, some 10 seconds for moving a single note by one semitone. Indeed a very large score 1537 measures, 64 instruments, some with 2 or even 3 staves
