MuseScore 3: Move of Barlines from Time Signature to Lines in Palettes
Is there any reason why barlines have slipped so far down now? They were actually quite well placed in MueseScore 2. Does it have something to do with the fact that the sorting was based on the English expression "lines" in Barlines? But that would be very anglocentric. Since bar lines usually depend on the selected time signature, they fit together quite well as neighbours. I know I can customize everything to my taste, but there are still many users who don't change the default settings. In addition, longtime users are simply used to the order, even though it may never have been perfect for everyone.

No, not aplhabeth, Barlines would have come before Time signatures then.
There has been made an attempt to sort them more logical they had been sorted in 2.x.
But yes, back then alphabethical order had been discussed (but got dismissed, due to the reasons you state, and the fact that translations would need a different sorting then)

The whole palette is not sorted alphabetically, that is already clear. Only the motivation is not clear to me, why the barlines are now below lines. That's hardly more logical, which is why I thought it was a semantic reason that could only be followed up in English. The Lines objects almost all refer to notes. They are also anchored there, whereas the bar lines depend on the time signature. Therefore they were already well placed up there.

The order has always been arbitrary to me. I use a custom workspace in both versions 2 & 3, so I changed the order in 3 so it's the same as it was in 2 since that's what I'm used to.

I was never such a friend of customizing. In MuseScore I've done this until now only for keyboard shortcuts. But I'll start with that as well.
Especially if you use a program on more than one computer, it is more convenient to use it with the default settings, unless you have implemented a function like Sync in Firefox (the MuseScore keyboard shortcuts I have always saved and adopted).

You should be able to customize one and copy the .MPAL files that are created to the other one to assure the changes are the same, and changing the second computer will become easier.
I agree it makes sense to have barlines higher. Most of the other changes seem logical to me but not this one.
